MADAM GLAM
Gel polish remover review.
Trying to find a way to achieve salon perfect manis at home is not for the faint of heart. A LOT of time, money and wasted products goes into testing before most of us give up and go back to the salon. Since I still haven’t found a salon I like in the new area I’m in, I am determined to create my own “at-home” nail kit.
Let’s get into the review for the Madam Glam gel nail polish remover.
For reference, I tested this out on regular gel polish from a different brand as well as gel polish from Madam Glam. I used this a total of 3 times (at the time of writing this review).
Packaging: Comes in a regular nail polish bottle.
Product Claims: “A revolutionary nail polish remover that makes it easy to remove the soak off gels!…Just apply over nails and peel off!”
Use / intake: Gently file/buff off the top coat of your nail polish to allow to remover to penetrate the nail. Then, brush a thick layer of the gel on your nail avoiding the skin around your nails and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes. (I tend to apply thick coats of nail polish so I found 10 minutes to be the sweet spot for removal in the beginning)
Pros: Could be a potentially fun, fast, easy and safe way of removing gel polish.
Cons: The gel remover thickened after every use, till it stopped working for me.
Notes*: I mentioned above that I used this a total of 3 times before writing this review.
These were 3 separate occasions. My nails were done the exact same way each time with 1 nail of a non Madam Glam gel polish for testing purposes.
The first time, the product worked EXACTLY as described. I didn’t even need 10 minutes before I noticed the polish calcifying making it super easy to peel off. The second time, I found that I had to add multiple layers and wait longer for the remover to begin react with the gel polish. The 3rd time and the reason why I stopped using the remover, it started to -what I can only describe as- “shrink wrap” my nails around the Hyponychium. This is the area between the free edge of the nail plate and the skin of the fingertip. Not only did it cause a lot of discomfort, it actually began to hurt so I wiped it off immediately.
Overall: I love the values of the madam glam gel polishes for being vegan, cruelty free, palm oil free and 21-free formula (non-toxic). But, I’m yet to find a shade that is suitable for my skin tone as they look different online than in person. I do love the quality of the polishes and the finish that it gives. However, I would not recommend the gel polish remover unless there was something wrong with the specific one I ordered / received.
have you ever tried the MADAM GLAM gel polishes? Have you tried the gel polish remover? What was your experience? Sound off in the comments.
